Features

The heart of FocusForums is its highly flexible Discussions module, where moderators can engage with Participants one-on-one or in groups. Participants can post their responses from any computer asynchronously -- when it's convenient for them -- using words, images, video, audio, or links.

The intuitive tab-styled interface makes it easy for users to navigate from question to question. Tabs can contain images, video, audio and advanced tools for qualitative co-creation or projective exercises, such as easy-to-customize Image Galleries for picture sorting, and Concept Boards that participants can mark up online.

User responses posted can include images, video and many other common file types. Users can also notify moderators should they have any follow-up questions.

Discussions can be conducted in group, one-on-one and blinded/masked modes to reduce group bias. Moderators can segment participants into subgroups on the fly for to deep-dive on special topics or teamwork exercises.

User Activity reports and Transcripts can be downloaded on demand in Text, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel formats.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

I like the Focus Forums interface because it is very friendly and easy for respondents to use. One of the big challenges of this type of research is creating the right tone, and there are several tools here that help: the avatars, the icons, and the home page messaging.

The graphic capabilities of this platform are superior, making it much easier to create projection exercises, as well as look at packaging or advertising graphics. Shamsu is very responsive to clients, providing good mid-project support. And they continually introduce enhanced features in response to moderator requests.

Their servers are also located in Canada, which is important to some clients who do not want customer information subject to Homeland Security rules.
